But wait.. What exactly is a doula?
A doula is a person who supports your physical and emotional and mental well-being as you go through pregnancy, labour and birth. A doula helps answer all the questions you have about pregnancy and birth to help you feel calm, educated and empowered as you prepare for the birth of your baby!
You Deserve a Confident and Supported Pregnancy Journey!
Whether this is your first-time or you're old pros at the pregnancy game, I'm here to make sure you feel confident and supported as you embark on this incredible journey.
Pregnancy and birth can be filled with so many decisions and moments of uncertainty, but that’s where I come in! As soon as you hire me to be your doula, I am available to answer any questions you may have and provide you with evidence-based information (if you want it). I am your unbiased aid to help you navigate the twists and turns of pregnancy and birth with confidence and excitement.
During your prenatal home visits, we'll address both big choices and small details in a relaxed and enjoyable manner. Together, we'll discuss your birth preferences, address any questions you have, and practice simple yet effective comfort techniques and pain management strategies for you and your partner to use during the birth. My aim is to guide you through this journey with confidence, ensuring you feel informed about your birthing options and empowered to advocate for the experience you envision.
My approach to birth support is one backed by extensive knowledge of the human body stemming from my Bachelors of Kinesiology and my practice as a Registered Massage Therapist.
I am here to make you feel confident and supported every step of the way because you deserve it!
Bringing a new life into the world is a completely unique and unparalleled experience.
Choosing the Right Birth Doula for You

To help you make this decision, I provide a complimentary consultation with no obligation to hire. During this meeting, you can freely inquire about my services, background and we can talk about my role and how I will help! Birth Doula Questions

A doula serves as your personal guide throughout the journey of pregnancy, labor, and birth. They highlight essential aspects, provide insightful answers to your questions, offer tips for optimizing the experience, and assist you in crafting and navigating the type of journey you desire. Research has shown that individuals receiving continuous support from a doula during labor are more inclined to have spontaneous vaginal births, less likely to use pain medication or epidurals, and have lower rates of negative feelings about childbirth and cesarean births (Bohren et al., Cochrane Review, 2017).

Hospitals allow doulas and other support people to accompany you during your labour.

Midwives and doctors function as medical care providers, responsible for overseeing the medical aspects of your pregnancy and providing clinical care for both you and your baby(ies). They perform essential medical tasks and ensure the well-being of both the expectant parent and the child.
In contrast, a doula does not provide medical care. Instead, a doula serves as a dedicated companion offering emotional, physical, and informational support throughout your pregnancy, labor, and birth journey. While midwives and doctors focus on clinical aspects, a doula is there to provide holistic support, helping you navigate the emotional and physical aspects of the experience and offering valuable information to empower you during this transformative time.

Your concern is valid, and it's essential to clarify that a doula's role is not to overshadow the special connection between the expectant parent and their partner but to enhance and support it. As the tour guide, a doula becomes an integral part of the existing support team. The aim is to complement the strengths already present and contribute to a unified and positive birth experience.
A doula's presence is beneficial not only for the birthing parent but also for their partner. By offering reassurance, providing opportunities for breaks, and ensuring essential needs like food, sleep, and moments of respite are met, a doula actively supports both members of the expectant couple. The collaborative approach, where a doula brings expertise in labor and birth, and the partner contributes their intimate knowledge of the expectant parent, creates a harmonious and supportive team dynamic. It's a partnership that strives to make the birthing experience as positive and empowering as possible for everyone involved.
